A local scrap metal yard pllled a similar '57 in recently. It's a standard shift 292 powered one. I don't need another project but I keep seeing it as a whisky runner that looks like a sheriff's car. I would think it could be bought. I never did like the '58s because they just look like a '57 that was made look ugly by adding extra headlights. GPster

Now that looks like an intense project. I'm sure you're capable but I did notice all the question marks in the title.... Wink

I dug a '57 out of the weeds a few years ago too.

George...you left that 57 retractable behind? Should've grabbed it too to sell for parts. I had a rust bucket 57 flip top in HS. Sold it to the junkman for $50 in the late 60's. Geez...

Bob, I plead 5th amendment. Smile George, I'd be more excited if this was a 2 door. Tomslik, it's what's left of a solid lifter 332. The engine was wore out and that's why it was parked decades ago. The oil pan is rusted off. I did salvage a good air cleaner and the valve covers. There is a set of solid lifter rocker shafts that might be salvageable. This had a 3 speed manual trans. The trans is not part of the deal but the bell housing and all the rest of the clutch linkage is. There are some sellable items and some usable items. CK, the only mustang part I have left is the driveshaft. Everything else is either on the 51 or in the trash dump. Surely the mojo won't procreate. Smile

I bought this maybe as much as 10 years ago. I intended to remove the dash from it. I got to thinking about Grote's spacetruck and thought the rear end could be useful. I've since noticed that people have used the ribbed roof panel for hot rod projects. If I could buy front sheet metal for it, I might consider a restomod project. As it sits today, I believe disassembly is inevitable. I'm collecting parts and a thread on my next hot rod project will begin soon. I want to have most of the parts laid out so you won't be wasting time looking at 1 part at a time. Smile

OK crazy idea time . what would it look like to shorten the car down to a 2 door with the front of the front door and rear of the back door grafted together . Stock front sheet metal . Then extend the wheelbase back to original or slightly longer with station wagon quarters to make a sort of extended cab ranchero . One of none made . I would love to see a photo shop of that one .

This afternoon, I removed the dash and the engine and trans is ready for removal. I will have a complete manual trans clutch pedal and linkage for sale when I get the engine out. I don't know if it has any value but I'm sure it's not common. Smile
The dash has surface rust under the padded dash cover but it's not bad. I think some 80 grit on a da and it will be ready for prime and paint.

This afternoon's task was to remove the engine and separate the trans from it.
