a few things....

tire sizes front and rear...

distance from the center of the brake pedal pad to the pivot bolt on the brake pedal.. and the distance from the pivot bolt to the MC push rod connection... center to center measurements.. so brake pedal ratios can be calculated..

how much intake manifold vacuum do you have at warm idle...

how much intake manifold vacuum do you have hot in drive.. at 0 MPH

how much intake manifold vacuum do you have at 25 MPH.

does your power brake booster actually work???

engine warmed up... shut if off.. pump brake pedal 5 or 6 times.. hold foot with light to medium pressure on the brake pedal... start the engine.. does the brake pedal fall away slightly????

with the engine idling .. depress the brake pedal with light to moderate pressure.. hold foot totally still... shut engine off.. the pedal should NOT kick upwards..

again with the engine idling...

foot off the brake.. after 45 seconds of idling.. shut off the engine.. wait 10 seconds.. how many pumps of the brake pedal do you get assist.. one full.. usually partially on a second..

My now 2wd 1988 bronco has 3.55 gears and was thinking of going to something around 3.25 since I think it needs pinion bearings due to a excessive clunk,I still have 31-10.5 tires on the rear and will have a similar size when they wear out. It presently has a 302 but considering a 351 swap but might be years out,I am worried about lugging the 302 when its in overdrive so should I keep the same ratio and repair the clunk or go with a slightly taller gear.

                                      Mikej,
It went through the traps a little over 8,000 rpm's. I like to keep it in the 7,000's. I should be able to take off at the mile by slipping the clutch a little. At Bonneville with the 2:49 gear it want's to stall or if enough rpm's , spin the tires. Concrete should be better for traction. I am going to order some new tires soon. That should help also.
If we think it needs pushed off we have a board to put on the pick-up. I should put it on just in case this next trip.
There isn't any rev limiter and the motor is capable of the 8,500 rpm's but it is a stress on everything.

When we figure the tires we use 27.8 in. tall. I don't know the tire growth is. That could make a little difference.
If the metal is scorched, all the paint missing, and metal discolored, you need to sand it good, and then use a metal etch product, scrubbing it in with steel wool, until you have removed all the residue. Then refinish as normal. I have had good luck with this method. Others may do it differently, I would like to hear their ways too.

I agree with enenjo's advice. I can only add that from what I have seen, if the metal surface is discolored, that panel is probably badly warped. Hope the bedside didn't get it bad. Could be more difficult to straighten as well, especially if using pull studs, etc. More brittle. I have always been able to walk away from the crispy ones at work, but I do have one in my yard that was very close to a big fire at the rear. Lamps melted, die-cast quarter extensions warped. Paint is not disclored but quarter panel warpage is evident and any bodyfiller is toast. I say if its looking like mostly just scorched paint, it might be something that will hammer out. But if the metal is discolored get ready for a straightening mess.

If you have rubber in your fuel lines ,look them over closely for cracks. If they need replacing step up & buy fuel injection rated rubber hose, less likely to be affected by the ethanol in your gas.

The Ugly Olds has an engine set-up simular to yours .. A '71 LT1.. (350 /350 horse ) stock heads ..Edelbrock Performer Intake ..Stock LT1 exhaust manifolds ......I use a good ol' 600 CFM Holley ..( List 1850) ... It runs as fast as I want to go ....with 18 MPG on the road with the A/C running .....
I like to think it's a good combination .... 650 CFM on a Air Gap Manifold seems a bit much unless you plan on running 4000 RPM ++ quite often .....
One more update. After the modifaction of the screw head I discovered that trying to install the spring below the canceling cam had mushroomed it enough to allow it to be forced to low on the shaft when tightning the steering wheel nut [not me, the other one] it jammed the ring down on the screw head. I called FR to ask what the original GM application was so I could go by another locally. Tech asked my address and said one was on the way, no charge. Not a big dollar item, but still great customer service.

Just think how many Cobra replicas alone have been made over the years. He was a legend.

And if that version of Shelby's passing isn't true it's still worth retelling!

                                      I got it fixed.
There is a condenser inside the distributor, it was bad.
But I could not get just the condenser, had to buy it and the wires that went from the condenser to the module& up to the cap.
But it's fixed again
Thanks for the replys
Thanks guys,I was leaning towards angling the mounting brackets and running straight rod ends . Just wanted input from others. I am just now making mockup bars with solid ends so the mounting points are in perfect alignment. Then I can locate the coilover upper mount position. I have already made the mounting brackets for the shocks,I just havent made the bolt holes for the top eye yet as I want to confirm placement at ride height vs/ published installed height from shock manufacturer.Going to a swap meet this weekend, hope to find some rod ends or I will order them from speedway

Untill I get the Jeepster pushed back into the garage this weekend and the tarp off of it I can't remember what I may have. Except for that '42 - '48 Ford radiator I think the rest of it would look like an S10 yard sale. I'd like to be there to help but I'm still trying to catch up from the five days I used for the "Hooley runs the Ohio Mile". If I don't get the chicken coop (should be coupe?) done soon I may be spending "Mother's Day" in it. GPster
